"Time does not heal all wounds. Best friends Jessica and Sam each have scars from their pasts that have not healed. Jessica has never been able to get past an extremely damaging romantic relationship from her formative years in college, while Sam has been ignoring a painfully fractured relationship with her sister. After years of denial, an impromptu lunch date and a surprise overnight guest forces them both to confront these wounds and face what they didn’t want to see head on. Scar Tissue is a poignant look into what happens when we leave our carefully crafted realities and dive headfirst into the gray areas we repeatedly try to ignore."
What started as one scene for an acting demo reel grew into a full-length play that has been seen in theatres all over NYC and the U.K.! Diving head first into the #MeToo movement and not holding back, Scar Tissue continues to have an impact on all who attend this powerful piece of theatre.

After a successful summer with SheNYC, including winning Best Dramatic Script, we had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the Player Theatre’s Residency Program! It was an incredible run, garnering lots of praise and attention to a very important piece. We opened on January 13th, 2022 and closed on January 30th.

SheNYC Summer Digital Festival 2020
You can imagine how THRILLED we were when Scar Tissue was notified in January of 2020 that we were selected to participate in SheNYC’s Summer Festival! Then… the world halted. Thankfully, the amazing team at SheNYC didn’t stop when the rest of the world did. Since we could not participate live, SheNYC put together a Summer Digital Festival. By participating, we were guaranteeing our spot in 2021’s Live Festival.

Scar Tissue @ Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham England
Right after our successful workshop at Dixon Place, our beloved director Francesca Di Cesare returned to England. When she went, she took Scar Tissue with her! Thanks to her diligent efforts, Scar Tissue was selected for the historic Old Joint Stock Theatre’s Open Doors program. They specifically selected Scar Tissue for Women’s History Month!

New Words in a New Light Reading
Scar Tissue had it’s first public staged reading in 2017 as the first play selected for Match: Lit’s ‘New Words in a New Light’ reading series held at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn in conjunction with Playdates at Pete’s! This is where I first met Francesca Di Cesare, my now creative partner, and this crazy journey began!
